Otter Point

14 Boulder Problems

Description:

From Aidan's greater victoria guide: Important Information: This area has a lot of rock! Climbed quite extensively for years though I don’t know many of the established lines. The nature of the climbing allows for many variations and lots of easy climbing so get out there and climb whatever looks fun! The “boulders” are all walls of surge channels so the area is quite tide dependent and can be very dangerous. They are also mostly accessed by 5th class climbing and a fall and injury as the tide is incoming could be deadly. This place is serious business and a solid grasp of tide/swell charts is necessary. Different channels will require slightly different tides which I will try to record. Note, these numbers are only for ideal conditions. Extreme caution should be exercised as one large wave at an unexpected time could be deadly.

Directions / Travel Info:

Directions: Drive south west on highway 14 past Sooke. You will start to see Otter Point signs the climbing is located right at the very pointy point of Otter point. Park along the highway in one of the various pullouts (obey traffic signs, do not park right at the point) and hike down via a trail right at the bend in the road.
