The first big bouldering area at constitution hill. Big granite slide under the sport and trad crags. This slide is home to a few super classic boulders in the v6-v7 range, and lots of great harder and easier lines to be had as well! This whole slide gets super hot in the summer but dries out fast during the shoulder seasons. Futuro is much cooler during the summer months. Highlights of this area are ZigZag and Toehook Cave.
Head North out of Courtenay along the old island highway towards Campbell River. Turn left onto Strathcona pkwy following signs for Mt. Washington ski resort. Follow the Strathcona pkwy for about 2km and turn right onto Duncan Bay Main Line Rd under the flashing light next to the Mt. Washington base parking lot. Follow Duncan Bay Main Line for about 9.3km and make a right turn on to an offshoot with an immediate fork. Turn left at the fork and continue over a yellow bridge and to a pull out on the left that can accommodate a few cars. Right after the pull out about midway down the little hill the trail will be on your right. It can be tricky to spot! Walk across the knifeblade rock and onto the trail leading into the forest.
