FA: Andrew Murray - 2024-03-10

Description:

Sea Change, 5.10c, 4 pitches, sport, 16 quickdraws, FFA: Andrew Murray, Dan Raber 2024

Approach: Ascend directly up the boulder field or follow the trail up the base of the cliff from the start of Enola Gay.

Pitch 1 (25m 10 bolts): This pitch ascends a slabby arete above some broken rock that’s just left of a left facing corner. Follow the bolt line up the pillar and then through some easier slab climbing, moving left to the anchor
.
Pitch 2 (35m 15 bolts): Move right and then up through thin climbing to a slab, Continue over a small roof to a ledge with a 2 bolt anchor, 15m. (A few alpine draws will reduce rope drag). From here continue upwards, through a wide overhung crack on your left onto some tricky face climbing to an anchor on a white ledge. (The two-bolt anchor can be used to split this into 2 pitches to reduce rope drag).

Pitch 3 (25m 8 bolts): Step left and climb the hand crack. Then move right and up through some tricky moves to gain the right trending ramp. Climb the ramp to an anchor on a comfortable ledge.

Pitch 4 (25m 10 bolts): Step right and climb the dihedral, then move right and continue up through some slabby terrain. Climb upwards through a roof to reach the final anchor.

Descent: Walk off to the right. Then hike up and to the left to meet the Mount Sentinel hiking trail.

To rappel:
1. Rappel straight down to the P3 anchor.
2. Rappel leftwards along the ramp to reach the P2 anchor.
3. *If you have a 60m rope, rappel approx. 20m to the anchor on P2, then another 15m rappel will take you to the P1 anchor. If you have a 70m rope, you can skip this rappel and go directly to the P1 anchor.
4. From the P1 anchor, rappel directly to the ground.
