I have been spanked by many climbs but this was probably the all-time most humiliating - it is only 5.9 FFS! maxcaudleAmazing line on really beautiful sandstone covered in iron bands. The big move to the slotted iron band crimp is sick. Falling off the top out mantle and injuring both ankles started a 3 day mental battle. After returning to the boulder and watching Leo redo the top I was able to put it all together on the second go of the day.

Jake TigerFA: Hollow Man, V9This beauty of line is something Ive kept in the back of my mind ever since I first did Dynamite, some years ago. Clearly a proud, tall feature, ending at a point, at the tallest peak of the face, a climbable line had to exist. I came to check it out for the first time on a rope last week and found a sequence that would work, minus one move that stumped me. The first half of the climb is quite chossy and hollow sounding. That may explain why it has gone unclimbed for so long but after several breaks I feel like it had settled to a point where I felt comfortable climbing it. Luckily, however, the top half is very bomber rock with better holds than the first half, which was a relief. The crux revolves around reaching to a vertical sidepull which is grabbed as a gaston and then a layback. High feet must be gained to then reach far up to a gaston. Delicate footwork was a must. It’s quite long too, about 36 feet (11 meters) or so, and with the over gripping from my fear focus, fatigue became a factor. Im happy to have headpointed this line, nothing broke while I was bouldering and did not take any huge whips.2 days ago

Leo WolfeBy far my proudest send of the trip. An absolutely incredible feature on unreal rock which climbs just as good if not better son. Knew about it since seeing Jimmy and Daniel rest it in vid but didn't think id have the guts to put it together on trip. amazing squeezing leads to crimps then a heinous RP crux foot cut. ~ 1.5hrs of effort over 2 days, had to dig deep after falling near the end my first 2 tries of the day. Mike NessA near perfect rock climb IMO. Technical, powerful and steep through the beginning and then thin and slabby through the end. Didn’t like the slab at first, but it grew on me. The slab sure is a challenge while pumped and redpointing. Tried it a couple of times last year and then sent it second try this year. Hot temps for March!
